I think,we should focus on the price of non plastic bags.
If we become successful in introducing bags made of old cloths it would indirectly reduce the use of plastic bags.

Plastic is very important and useful and also extremely harmful. Banning it would cause a lot of trouble. So, Also suggest some alternatives. The companies producing the bans itself must be banned. Set a date, and before that all the factories must close by themselves or else will be forcibly closed. This must be done at national level. Plastic bags are a threat to the whole country not just Chandigarh.

Plastic carry bag specially used by grocer is main concern. These grocers have burden of competition as well as fulfill the demand of customer.so they use small plastic carry bags which are cheaper. On the other some companies also use plastic wrapper so government put a high duties on production of such plastic so that grocers & other have to divert from using plastic bag and trying to find out some other option.if all grocers put presser on public to carry basket from there home, this help us

Along with vegetables, fruits or any food items; vendors, shopkeepers, hawkers must have to keep paper bag, bag from cloths having Minimum cost ( Rs.2, Rs.5, Rs10) instead of plastic bag. Source of such bag must be from NGO, Khadi udhyog or such cheritable organization. It will automatically reduced usage on plastic bag. Additionally all mall must keep recycled paper bag or cloth bag only instead of plastic bag.

Plastic carry bag ban in Bangalore. It is only limited to carry bags, whereas all grocery / provision items are packed in plastic packets. It defeats the purpose. It is not implemented in true spirit. whatever product we pick from grocery store is packed in plastic. Just carrying all this plastic packets in a clothe bag is not the solution to problem. we need to ensure that plastic is not used to pack items as well.
Plastic bags manufacturing units should be closed down. for plastic free City
