Silk, the Queen of textiles, is adored by all for its sheer sheen, luster, elegance, class and comfort. It has several natural properties like natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes and vibrant colours, light weight, resilience and excellent drape etc. which makes it distinct from all other fibers both natural and man-made. Though silk products are consumed more by urban rich, its production is highly employment oriented, low capital intensive and remunerative that churns out value added products of economic importance, especially the rural people.

India is the second largest producer of silk in the world and the silk industry provides employment to about 7.8 million people in the rural and semi-urban areas in the country. The women participation in various activities in silk value chain is about 54%. The silk always attracts competition from synthetic fibers, though which look like silk.

We can increase the demand of product by branding them and produce world class quality. as i know india does not have any popular brand other than khadi. we need to understand where we are wrong why the indian products having poor image in global market. however we are well known for some products but still we need to focus on ABC (Approach, Brand & Cost). Gov should learn the silk producer how to produce the quality product in lower cost and approach the global market with a brand name.

Property Tax in Bangalore is almost similar to that for Mumbai, Pune, Nashik. But while they all have underground sewage pipelines, Bangalore has open air gutter system. Can there be some norm for taxing the property tax based on the sewage system, open air, underground or some recent hi-tech.

While I agree that the Media is the forth pillar of Democracy, there are hundreds of news items and clippings shown on TV channels, which specify about the molestations, rapes and gang-rapes of women of different classes, where as there are hardly any news items showing that the culprits for such offences were severely punished. If these offenses have to stop, then the news item giving the details of the punishments to the culprits need to be highlighted, than showing the news items of offences.

We have employee insurance for accidents in work place which cover all the employees of the organization and the people dependent on these employees. Similarly, why can’t we have similar group insurance scheme for each train that runs, where all the passengers are covered under some group insurance policy, so that in the event of a railway accidents the unplanned expenditure from either the central government or the state government could be avoided. The premium could become a part of the ticket
