Silk, the Queen of textiles, is adored by all for its sheer sheen, luster, elegance, class and comfort. It has several natural properties like natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes and vibrant colours, light weight, resilience and excellent drape etc. which makes it distinct from all other fibers both natural and man-made. Though silk products are consumed more by urban rich, its production is highly employment oriented, low capital intensive and remunerative that churns out value added products of economic importance, especially the rural people.

India is the second largest producer of silk in the world and the silk industry provides employment to about 7.8 million people in the rural and semi-urban areas in the country. The women participation in various activities in silk value chain is about 54%. The silk always attracts competition from synthetic fibers, though which look like silk.

Share your ideas and opinions on how to increase the demand for Indian silk in the country as well as abroad by exploring new products, designs, markets, fashion, trends, promotion measures, target groups, etc.

Certain class of people have hiked the product range of silk goods to such an extend that its almost out of common peoples reach. Artificial silk manufacturing should be encouraged, giving job opportunities to the mass and it should be promoted in the village areas mostly, so that people knows the value of the same

BHIWANDI is an important trans shipment area on outskirts of Mumbai. More than 10,000 transporters + logistics companies have warehouses. 2 main roads service this area - Old Agra Road from Thane to Bhiwandi and Bhiwandi Bye pass road which also connects to Kalyan and Nashik. Both these roads are toll roads - The old road is operated by Supreme and by pass road by IRB. The Old road is in extremely bad shape. THERE ARE NO INTERNAL ROADS in this entire area !! It takes 2 hours to cover 1 K

Roads and Highways are now being made on BOT basis by contractors. Can the same contractor be asked to maintain environment, provide cell towers for mobile and radio connectivity, provide solar lamps on divider every 5 kilometers, if not continuous. Will such clubbing make things better for INDIANS, for CONTRACTORS and for the GOVERNMENT. WILL IT RESULT IN A WIN WIN SITUATION FOR ALL OF US !!

On Roads and Highways, we find small nullahs are made across the roads by placing Concrete cylindrical pipes. Such pipes tend to collapse , SINK, or just break in short period of time! Result - Pot Holed roads. TECHNOLOGY has changed !! PLEASE use SQUARE or RECTANULAR pre cast concrete boxes in place of cylindrical pipes - REASON - 1. The square / rectangular boxes get an even base, therefore they do not sink. 2. At the road level the box forms an even surface, suffering even stresses !!

On Roads and Highways, we find that most roads and Highways develop potholes during monsoon. What is the Ministry of Surface transport and Highways and the Minister, Shri Gadakari and the NARENDRA MODI government going to do, which will bring INDIA and INDIANS out of the "CHAKRAVYUHA" of constant damage and repairs of roads and highways year after year after year !! HOW many THOUSANDS OF CRORES are spent on repairing damaged roads every year. IS THERE A BETTER WAY ? WILL IT BE DONE?

Gentlemen, I am an engineer by profession. I love driving for business as well as pleasure. I have been driving for the past 35 years. I also drive trucks with a valid driving licence. On a recent visit to China, we observed that all highways were lined with at least six rows of trees. Such trees had spent the first five years of their life in nursery, and were planted on the highway only when they needed minimum support. CAN SUCH A POLICY BE MADE AND IMPLEMENTED INDIA?? Please consider !
