Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance or UMANG developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was inspired from the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, who said “e-Governance, let us think about ‘mobile first’ and thus give importance to m-Governance”.

On November 23, 2017, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the UMANG Mobile app to the Nation with 163 services. UMANG is an initiative to build a common, unified platform, aggregating major government services of Center, States, local bodies, including important utility services, to facilitate a single point access through mobile app, anytime, anywhere. Citizens need to download just one mobile application and can access multiple services.

UMANG was envisaged to have a transformative and historic impact on the lives of citizens by allowing them to avail digital services on 24*7, without any intermediary. Connected government, effective & economic governance, citizen centricity, inclusiveness, universal access and citizen participation in governance are some of the key benefits of UMANG for citizens as well as the Government.

Within a short period of its successful running, the mobile app bagged the ‘Best m-Government Service’ award at the 6th World Government Summit held at Dubai, UAE, in February 2018. UMANG also won at the IDC Digital Transformation Awards 2018 in August, under the category Omni-experience Innovator, which recognized it as a pioneering initiative.

The ‘Digital India Jury choice award 2018-19’ and DARPG Gold award 2018-19 for ‘Excellence in providing Citizen Centric Delivery’ respectively, were also bestowed upon UMANG. Information dissemination and delivery of government services, for assisting citizens on various aspects of life & livelihood, is being taken to another level through the consolidation of many important and widely used government services onto a single unified mobile app i.e. UMANG

UMANG Team now invites your suggestions for which 3 new services to on-board from State/Central Government departments on to the UMANG Platform.

Please submit your suggestions (comments) latest by 18th January, 2022.

Cyber crime has been increasing rapidly. The complaints which were made in cybercrime.gov.in are stalling without any solutions. The complainants were giving all the details including account number and phone number of the offender. Still there were no charges taken on them and still there are no updates were provided on the details of the case. Please throw some special focus on them.

The following 3 services can be introduced which are of demand - 1) Central and state government schemes in local language for easy understanding to farmers at single click on UMANG with small video demonstration on how to apply, track, eligibility of schemes. Generally observed that the Schemes in ENGLISH pdf are complicated and farmers do not read it. 2) Centralized portal of state and central government departments to address end user queries ( not complaints) relevant to various issues pertaining to any domains such as consumer affairs, food, education, weather, exports, trading , farming etc. The same can be linked to various department websites using API integration and generating unique tracking number , if possible to address the same. Language converter function in UMANG to convert English language to local language for understanding response and putting queries.

Sir, Legal services are not fully available on internet. There should be a provision to file legal dispute cases such as property/matrimonial/divorce cases via internet after online deposit of required court proceeding fees. Certainly the private lawyers must be avilable on that website after paying some registration fees on annual basis to fight the legal battle and court hearing can be broadcasted to interested parties on smartphones via apps. At present there is no facility on Govt websites to file matrimonial/divorce/land disputes in district courts. However, the Govt app Ecourt shows hearing date with concerned honorable judge. Allowing online filling of family/property/matrimonial/divorce cases will enhance the ease of filling and fighting legal battles with privacy and as as a result the earning of Govt from selling of online legal stamp duties will increase. People will feel more privacy without intervention of illegal agents who keep wandering nearby court premises. Thank you!
