Registration of Births and Deaths in India is mandatory with the enactment of Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD), Act 1969 and is done as per the place of occurrence of the event. With a view to simplify the provisions of various sections of the existing RBD Act, 1969 and to make it people friendly, the Government of India has proposed to amend the RBD Act, 1969.

Existing sections of the Act and amendments proposed by the Office of the Registrar General, India (ORGI) are indicated in the first two columns of the proposal respectively.
Ministry of Home Affairs seeks feedback and suggestions along with the justification for the proposed amendments.

There needs automatic updation of various government records from the Centralized birth and death registration. This can ensure proper control over social benefits scheme. Also there needs facilities to register through the mobile phone and vetted by the representative of people at the native location and after the same is cross verified as such, it can be electrically processed at the Government level.

If the registration of birth and deaths is done honestly in time bound manner, there would be no need of census separately. This would save a lot of resources and money in conducting census activity. Moreover, this data would be in real time mode and more accurate. However, there are many factors that we have to conduct census activity in physical mode. Main reason is large numbers of illegal migrants living in India and their unwillingness to come in limelight by change in the demographic data.

Coronavirus updates for births, marriages All death registrations are currently being made by phone, you do not need to arrange an appointment or attend the register office. The register office will be notified of the death by the GP, Hospital or Coroner and will then call the next of kin to make the death registration over the phone. You must register the death within five days in the local authority area where the death took place.

The registrar for death will need to know the: date and place of death; full name and surname of the deceased; maiden surname (if applicable, and if it is different from their married name); deceased person’s date and place of birth; deceased person’s job; usual address of the deceased; full name and job of her husband if the person who died was a married woman, or a widow; date of birth of the surviving widow/ widower if the person who died was married.

Registration through the concerted doctor on-line rather than the parents. no mention of caste or religion or language. it should be dual in English and Hindi. the child's and parents fingerprint to be registered electronically. supported by doctor's and parent's address proof, identity proof and place proof.
