MyGov Talk with Hon. Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar on Climate Change

In the run-up to COP (Conference of Parties) 21 scheduled in Paris from 30th November to 11th December 2015, MyGov and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change are pleased to announce a MyGov Talk with the Honourable Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar on the 26th October 2015 at 5.00PM in collaboration with Google India.

With India's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the country is keen to attempt to work towards a low carbon emission pathway, while simultaneously endeavouring to meet all the developmental challenges that the country faces today. The INDC aims at promoting clean energy, especially renewable energy, enhancement of energy efficiency, development of less carbon intensive and resilient urban centres, promotion of waste to wealth, safe, smart and sustainable green transportation network, abatement of pollution and India’s efforts to enhance carbon sink through creation of forest and tree cover.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas, questions and inputs on India's role in COP21 and on the following proposals laid down by INDC:

• Sustainable Lifestyles
• Cleaner Economic Development
• Reduce Emission intensity of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
• Increase the Share of Non Fossil Fuel Based Electricity
• Enhancing Carbon Sink (Forests)
• Adaptation
• Mobilizing Finance
• Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

Selected ideas and names would also be mentioned by the Hon. Minister and other experts during the MyGov Talk.
Contributors from MyGov, Climate Change Experts, senior journalists and social media influencers will join the panel discussion with Shri Prakash Javadekar.

1) In different areas we see indiscriminate multistoried building making (flats) process is going on by destroying the percolating soil by changing the nature and character of the land (without Nations interest) even by filling up ponds/old ponds (surface water) by the promoters.2) Unscientific huge drawing of underground water (water business) by using heavy motor pumps etc. These two things we can restrict by imposing & real implementing strict central laws.

Climate change issues coming with importance to us because we are changing the character of earth in various ways. We are disarranging the nature for shake of development. What is needed- we have to Maintain the balance. We know various causes including carbon emission and there are various ideas about ways out from it. Apart from it here I am pointing out two things, what I think have some impact on environment and climate change-

CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - SUGGESTIONS - XXI 27. Buying fuel / energy efficient vehicles needs to be emphasised as a signature of a good citizen. Impact of adoption of LED lights on the electricity savings, making LED bulbs etc. even more affordable. 28. CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - SUGGESTIONS - CONTD. - XX 26. Sensitising citizens to the concepts through awareness campaigns and strict implementation of laws. Documentaries, short films etc. may be financed / marketed / exhibited through different media and also through mobile vans in rural areas.Concept of “Reduce, Recycle, Reuse” needs to be encouraged, thus steadily reducing the influence of consumerist, “use and throw” approach. CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - SUGGESTIONS 25.Monthly meetings with States/ UTs / Central Ministries – for better coordination and control. Green cover of all States be analysed and improved on scientific lines. Countrywide monitoring through ‘National Air Quality Index’ and ‘Bureau for Water Use Efficiency’ and ranking the States / UTs / cities needs to be done on continuous basis, and the results should be displayed in public domain. Sir, all global oil exploration company are trying to module to pump the compressed CO2 into oil reservoir, they are not sharing the data to study the pros and cons of the module they are just sharing the results, there is need of conserted effort by all countries to push these companies to share the data with countries for research purposes

CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC- SUGGESTIONS - CONTD. XVIII 24. Citizens should be encouraged to positively contribute towards Nation Building. ‘Each One Plant One’ – citizens be supplied one sapling every year, for greening their homes. In rural areas, through agro-forestry programmes, private lands be encouraged to plant income generating trees, like poplar, eucalyptus, neem etc. on their land boundaries.
