The Indian Embassy is a sad reflection of all this is wrong with Indian politics. It is disorderly, chaotic, unprofessional and run by people wielding their position as throne. The first impression anyone we give to would be visitors begins here. Therefore we should be ultra professional, well organised, timely, respectful and implement technology to improve efficiency and reduce delays. Staff should be well trained in customer service and transparency given with all aspects of each process

Few of the problem associated with PIO, Immigration laws, Passport and their proposed solution - 1. Few of the laws while applying PIO are not practical. e.g. Notarizing signature and getting thumb impression of infants who are born in foreign country. When our new government is encouraging self attestation, their is no need to notarize here as well. And there is no benefit of taking finger print of a few weeks old baby. Instead parents signatures can be taken.

The BLS visa facilitation services require people to submit original documents like birth certificates, passports, immigration documents etc. to them for OCI/PIO applications. They do not give any form of written confirmation that they are in possession of these originals. My request is to institute a simple process of giving out formal written receipts that would list each original document submitted and confirm that BLS is now in possession of these documents. Without such process in place, the applicants are left with nothing but to trust BLS.

“MAKE INDIA CORRUPTION FREE IN FEW MONTHS” THIS SYSTEM IS REALLY POWERFUL, FUNCTIONAL AND CAN BE RUN AUTOMATICALLY. THE BEST PART IS GOVERNMENT CAN IMPLEMENT THIS WITHOUT SPENDING SINGLE PENNY. JUST CHECK THE LINK MENTIONED IN PDF FILE PLEASE SEND IT TO ALL YOUR GROUP IF YOU LIKE IT AND LET THIS SYSTEM REACH TILL PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA SO THAT WE CAN HAVE BETTER FUTURE FOR OUR GENERATIONS TO COME. THIS WILL HELP RUN EACH AND EVERY SYSTEM OF THIS COUNTRY VERY PERFECTLY.

I'm an NRI living in Malaysia, here I observed that passports are issued for multiple duration i.e. 2, 5,7,10 years etc for different fee levels. I think a similar approach would help in India too, we can increase the revenue from passport issuance, use the money to provide better services and clear out other issues from the dept. Also we need to find a better platform for NRIs, if one comes back to India things like permanent address is a major hassle even getting phone number is difficult.

Booking an appointment in passport seva kendra is painful. System needs to be upgraded like the irctc. Also police verification takes lot of time and the status of the application in the website is unclear. Website needs to indicate where the application is stuck and if the applicant has to take some action. Each step must be time bound and delay must be justified through the website. As far as I know delay cannot be for a specific person. The delay will be because of system or policy problems.

The NRI tax rules for Indian seamen working in foreign Merchant Navy required to be changed. There should not be any restriction of their staying in India or outside India. Instead all Indian sailors working in foreign Merchant Navy to be charged 5% from their gross yearly foreign salary /earning even if he/she is staying zero or 365 days outside India.By doing so, more jobs will be created as many seamen will sail less than 183 days & Government can earn more foreign currency.
