Smart Cities Mission
The purpose of the Smart Cities Mission is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology, especially technology that leads to Smart outcomes. Area-based development will transform existing areas (retrofit and redevelop), including slums, into better planned ones, thereby, improving livability of the whole City. New areas (greenfield) will be developed around cities in order to accommodate the expanding population in urban areas. Application of Smart Solutions will enable cities to use technology, information and data to improve infrastructure and services. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life, create a clean and sustainable environment and apply Smart Solutions to infrastructure and services in order to make them better which will make Smart City a model to be replicated.
Ministry of Urban Development invites citizens to design a Logo and create a Tagline for ‘Smart Cities Mission’.
The last date for submission is 4th May, 2015 by 3.00 p.m.
Cash Prize for winning logo: Rs. 25,000

The focus of the smart city development in India will be on infrastructure services like adequate and clean water supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transportation, affordable housing for poor, power supply and robust IT connectivity. So to develop a smart city, all these factors need to work hand in hand. So in this logo, each corner is connected to each other corner thus representing the idea of wholesome development.

Logo for Smart Cities Mission:
Orange color depicts the rising Sun. Green color depicts the Clean & Green Environment. Letter “S” is represented by Lightning Bolt which symbolizes Speedy Services. Letter “C” is represented by a Transmitter dish which symbolizes Easy Access to Information Technology. Letter “M” is represented by a House which symbolizes Accommodation Facility.
