Concept

Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. This day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year and is an occasion to show your affection, respect and care towards your mother.

In the spirit of celebrating Mother’s day, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India is organizing a Contest inviting stories about mothers. The Contest shall commence from 8th May, 2016 for a month long duration, ending on 6th June, 2016.

The concept of this campaign is to promote the idea of children sharing anecdotes/ stories about their mother who has defied gender stereotypes, raised her voice against gender discrimination and championed the cause of gender equality and empowerment. This story should have left a long lasting impact and consequently led to a change in the mindset of her family and/or the community at large. The premise is based on the fact that relationship with mother is one of the closest and may be a strong influencer in shaping behaviours and attitudes of her children. A mother is also a source of inspiration and a role model for her children. When an anecdote/story is narrated about a mother, it can be used as a catalyst to bring about a positive change in societal mindset. This may further lead to a more gender sensitive society which recognizes the contributions of a mother, in particular and women, in general.

The objective of the contest is to engage with larger audience through sharing of stories about mothers, thereby encouraging inter-generational dialogue, sensitizing men and boys, being a role model for an empowered daughter. This also creates an opportunity for open conversations against gender discrimination, inequality and dis-empowerment, which in turn leads to a positive mindset change in the society.

Some of the suggested themes are gender equality and empowerment, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, domestic violence, social evils like dowry and early marriage and so on.

एक बेटी माँ की सबसे अच्छी सखी होती है। जब बेटी घर में पैदा लेती है तब से वे अपने हर सुख-दुख को साथ मे बाँटती है पर एक ऐसा दिन भी आता है जब वो दोनो बिछड़ जाते हैं। वो दिन बेटी का विवाह होता है। वर्षों के साथ का संबंध कुछ पल मे ही 'दो परिवार के संबंध में' बदल जाता है। गृहस्थी को सुखमय बनाने के लिए अपने खुद की इच्छा को समाज के कारण भूल जाती हैं। एक माँ का आशा कभी खत्म नही होता, चाहे कितनी भी नकारात्मकता क्यो ना हो। उनकी इस घनिष्ठता को एक सखी के रुप मे दर्शाने का एक छोटा सा प्रयास 'सखी:सागर की मोती'

I HEREBY CONVEY SOME REMARKABLE PROVERBS TOWARDS THE KIND HONOUR OF MY BELOVED MODIJI i.e. PM of India --- Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. Mother — that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries. The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men — from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms. ----- > GOD could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.

IN THIS VAST SPIRITUAL WORLD,NOTHING IS ABOVE IN COMPARE TO MOTHER'S AFFECTION.SO, AT 1ST WE MUST RESPECT TO OUR MOTHER FROM ALL ANGLES SO THAT THEY NEVER GET ANY HURT FROM THEIR CHILDREN.NOW A DAYS IT IS A COMMON CULTURE THAT OUR YOUNG GENERATION USED TO LOVE & LIVE IN SEPARATE WAY and MOST OF THEM USE TO SEND THEIR PARENTS IN "OLD-AGE-HOME" THIS HAS A BAD IMPACT ON THEIR CHILDREN and WHICH HELP TO GROW SELFISHNESS IN THEIR MIND.AND THIS SORTS OF SELFISH CHARACTER & CULTURE HURT SOCIETY BADLY.

‘Ma’ is such a sweet word that no other word in this world has more sweetness than this. The very first word which comes out of a child is ma. Ma is whole world for me, I guess for others also. Name itself has such a sweet feeling that you would immediately go back you childhood. Whenever trouble come we automatically utters this word ‘Ma’.
