Rather than just making traditional clothes from silk, people should be trained to produce global products for global market using these silk raw material. more designers and creative workers should be promoted and trained.

Ask film/serial Industry directors/producers etc. to promote silk and in every film by shouing actor/actress in silk clothes in some of the scences. What people see that only sells. Why sweet water ( cold drink ) is sold so much because of adds. So do more adds. Make silk a style statement. Organize an Internation Silk Fashion show in which designers from all country can participate. Make India silk capital of the world.

As our Prime Minister visited his constituency, he spoke of Banarasi Silk and Sarees. Varanasi should be given more than just allowances to the weavers. NIFT should be given to Varanasi and with core design training for the silk of Varanasi and changes of Banarasi Saree keeping the traditional weave and motifs used since the time Banarasi Saree came in to existence. There is a huge market but we are going towards the market which is ruining the weave of sarees as a product.

Indian silks like kanjeevaram, gadwal and many other brands of silks are of excellent quality and dressing with them makes you feel a true Indian. There is nothing more beautiful than being and feeling "INDIAN" whether it is in India or abroad. Indian silks are nowadays restricted more to social gatherings. Encourage Indian women and men to use silk as an apparel in their daily routine and this may work to some extent.

Nowadays, the silk weavers are not getting the proper wages for their work, because of the traders. The proper awareness and description should be given in the advertisments, about the product, and the designs should be creative and the price should be economically, to buy. even the ordinary weaver should be enabled to get and know the requirements in abroad, without the interpretaion of brokers. The creative weaver will get the good response, if he is able to sell his product directly.

More advertisements are required to make our women feel that wearing silk is indeed a pride. In the last 2 decades, this section of advertisement was occupied by more of western clothes. Another idea, would be to make women consider "Business Casuals" India specific - with their shirts in Silk.. This will avoid the notion of "Silk is only for Marriage and functions". This gives a different perspective of Indian Business casual and at the same time increase in demand of silk
