Silk, the Queen of textiles, is adored by all for its sheer sheen, luster, elegance, class and comfort. It has several natural properties like natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes and vibrant colours, light weight, resilience and excellent drape etc. which makes it distinct from all other fibers both natural and man-made. Though silk products are consumed more by urban rich, its production is highly employment oriented, low capital intensive and remunerative that churns out value added products of economic importance, especially the rural people.

India is the second largest producer of silk in the world and the silk industry provides employment to about 7.8 million people in the rural and semi-urban areas in the country. The women participation in various activities in silk value chain is about 54%. The silk always attracts competition from synthetic fibers, though which look like silk.

Share your ideas and opinions on how to increase the demand for Indian silk in the country as well as abroad by exploring new products, designs, markets, fashion, trends, promotion measures, target groups, etc.

There can be three step strategy implemented to boost silk production: 1. Robust production. We have outdated production mechanisms, we have the rarest quality of silk but because of poor production. 2. Exceptional marketing. We have to endorse and market aggressively to make a mark in the modern textile market. 3. Encourage local silk weavers. We need to exploit the skills and talent of local weavers couple with modernization we can come up with unique, ingenious products.

Why nepali residing in india are not enrolled in Electoral Roll? The concerned authority demand PRC for enrollment of their names. The todays nepali youths are born and brought up in India even they are not treated as Indians, why, only becasue they don't have PRC. I just want to know what exactly is needed to enroll names in voter list. Is this not enough that they are born in india?

We should think for better and good quality product without making price too high.there is so much price different in production and selling cost because of centre plus state taxation together.everyone trying to do business including govt and business man than how could we expect consumer to buy.
