Silk, the Queen of textiles, is adored by all for its sheer sheen, luster, elegance, class and comfort. It has several natural properties like natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes and vibrant colours, light weight, resilience and excellent drape etc. which makes it distinct from all other fibers both natural and man-made. Though silk products are consumed more by urban rich, its production is highly employment oriented, low capital intensive and remunerative that churns out value added products of economic importance, especially the rural people.

India is the second largest producer of silk in the world and the silk industry provides employment to about 7.8 million people in the rural and semi-urban areas in the country. The women participation in various activities in silk value chain is about 54%. The silk always attracts competition from synthetic fibers, though which look like silk.

Share your ideas and opinions on how to increase the demand for Indian silk in the country as well as abroad by exploring new products, designs, markets, fashion, trends, promotion measures, target groups, etc.

Sir, manage effective delivery system for subsidized kerosene to poor peoples. Most of quantity of subsidized kerosene siphoned out in open market by traders and uses for auto/ vehicles, industries and adultration to fuel by pumps etc. In city area, major pollution is due to kerosene only.

Pl. Control subcidized LPG cylinders to higher income families. Control effectively use of subsidized cylinders for vehicles and commercial uses like in small industries, restaurants and dairy units. Extra black cylinders are circulating in bazaar. That can be control by changing new design of cylinder, replacing old. Just like black money control by changing currancy notes.

We should make a team naming SIO ( Silk Inspecting Officers). Picking up talented team from each state, and we should ste up them for inspecting , we should send alternate team to random state instead sending to there own state. There work should be checking quality and reality of silk .This increases peoples faith in silk that they are not getting fake goods.

Visibility, ease of purchase, quick shipping & delivery besides quality checking are some factors important for success of any product. I believe if a govt agency/textile ministry can invest in bridging all the stages, by creating an online platform that could bring onboard gradually all silk product manufacturers, a social media team to market, a logistics firm to deliver, a product rating system for QA & a bank for eCommerce, I'm sure it will promote demand for silk & support the business

Recently I visited Khadi Gramodyog at CP, Found items very costly including silk. Ghandi ji was for poor people. With the present cost, a common man can't purchase even a kurta (Rs 1000/-). There was no crowd at the showroom even on holiday which previously happens to be seen 4-5 yrs back. Items has to be cost effective competetive.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana (operated through Post Offices [POs] by State Govts.) shall improve the plight of the girl child by (i) economic & educational development, (ii) better Child Sex Ratio (CSR). The State Governments will purchase National Savings Certificates from pre-designated POs. From the returns, the girl child will be given financial aid in school and college. Some states have already shown fine results. The remaining states should enter into an agreement with the Department of Posts.
