Silk products can be endorsed by celebrity. States show case silk in their ads. Then by making it easily available will create the demand. E-shopping portals can be created and people have the ease, 24*7 access to buy the silk items. When so many items are on e sale, why not silk items.

Air hostess uniforms must be made of Indian silk. Also link Indian traditional silk clothes with the Incredible India campaign. Every foreign tourist must want to buy some khadi and Indian silk clothing. Start with showcasing certain states as Silk hubs. Add this to the list of things that Bollywood and media must promote.

One of the best quality silk (Muga) is produced in Assam. Most of these producers do not have adequate support from the local bodies and mostly funds are mis handled and do not reach the targeted farmers-this is the base that needs to be looked into. Aditionally, promoting and correct pricing would help.

Sirji,
Part 1 / 9 : SMART PROMOTION & MARKETING:
To promote Indian Silk, be it in the Indian or International market, we need some smart promotion and marketing of SILK clothing products. There are marketing lessons to be learnt for small, medium as well as big players in the field.
Each of these company would do well to analyze their strengths and weaknesses & act upon the same accordingly.

Part 2 / 9 : ANALYSE THE SUCCESS MODELS / CASE STUDIES
Every firm should carry out an in-depth study of model success stories in this field and learn from them, take the good points, avoid the bad lessons and that’s way to go forward.
It’s worthwhile to see what are the lessons for small to medium players.
Perhaps we need to have a look at some of the established silk clothing players of every region !

Part 3 / 9 : BRANDING :
Most of firms were no entities few decades back, but today they all have made a mark for themselves through sheer hard work, quality and above all, sound advertising & aggressive marketing of their BRAND !.
BRAND advertising helped all these cos. immensely & once the BRAND is established, all you have take care, are the name, fame, quality and most importantly, the trust of the customers ! Rest will take care of the business!

Part 4 / 9 : ADVERTISING WITH POPULAR CELEBRITIES:
All these Cos, advertised their brand with the help of popular figures / celebrities, which helped them to market their products aggressively, attracting the customers. In the process, the business also expanded, from district head qtrs to adjacent districts and later on to adjacent states and in some cases, outside our country too! Without a brand, there’s no …no fame and without a name, one does not have an identity and recognition !

Part 5/ 9 : EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS OUTSIDE HORIZON/COMFORT ZONE
Our small or medium silk firms should therefore try to create a brand for them selves, which they should first try to market in their district with some appealing advertising / commercials and later on expand their horizon further beyond the district and then beyond states and so on…..expanding their business. To get the recognition of hard earned efforts, small & medium scale players should work toward brand building first.
