We are indains are habitual about cloths and we produced good silk at different part of country. I think government have introduced one organistion which support good silk production, collect different silk product from part of the country and open up outlets at different places ,make the addevertise and offer good price for product.as govenment directly do it ,it reduced middlemen commission and make available good silk at low price ,wich push up its demand

( 4 ) If silk is identified only as dress-material, usage gets limited. Hence I appeal to Govt. to ask Textile depts of Universities to do R&D on silk-based fabrics to bring-out heat-resistant, heat-repellent silk, neutral to most chemicals or, as filter-grade-material by blending with other substances say, for use in air-condition & ventilation, for use as curtains for dust filtration. In short, "R&D efforts will help in future to bring down cost & add new qualities for use in Industries too".

( 3 ) Hence research needs to be done in these areas. As I infer, silk is also a good acoustic-material. Entertainment electronics can explore the use of silk. Govt. can ask esp. 5 & 7 Star hotels to go for silk and silk products in their settings to maxm. levels. Let us look to exports. Here, 1. Govt. can ask individual embassies to identify/ select local promoters of silk-products. 2. Western-Nations can adopt silk in big way due to colder climates. Let there be Fashion-shows on silk-fabrics

( 2 ) As ours is tropical country its hot-weather silk is not conducive for regular wear. Thus, silk as sole dress-material is limited- but can be enhanced if mixed up along with other fabrics, say, terelyene, wool, polyester, cotton, etc. I hope Textile ministry will urge experimentation by industry in using above materials +JUTE to produce attractive brand dress-materials providing more value for money. Another factor that needs consideration is, ensuring extended life of costly silk-produce.

Yes, Chinese silk-import has hit hard native silk-producers and products. With regard to anything to do with China, it is an unequal situation as it it always has upper hand. Now, to expand makrt. for silk locally, we may look at uses for silk, firstly. 1. Garments- all types like sarees, dhotis, ready-made products for example, kurtas, shalwar-kameez . 2. Use in electric devices after impregnation, 3. Use as upholstery material in posh locales. 4. Lining material for suits, in woolen items.

Frequent exhibitions can be hosted. A brief of the weavers involved in weaving the silk saree, photographs of the place and working conditions can be pinned to the finished product. Visuals and audios displaying history of weaving, can be shown. We can even have a place where visitors can learn and try their hand on weaving for a special experience.

Dear Sir,import of Chinese Silk can be reduced by increasing the tax on Chinese silk and along with it we must increase our own silk and Khadi Products.

Sir, the demand is there, however standardisation of quality is lacking. High production costs due to poor availability of power for looms makes for the entry of Chinese silk easier. Poor remuneration for weavers & artisans, negligible opportunities for their families makes the next generation of this skilled work force to look elsewhere for livelihood. A dedicated board for skill training & to help small units in e-commerce may be considered at renowned silk manufacturing hubs, as also GI tag.
