We need three pronged strategy for Indian Silk-
1.Infrastructural 2.Instructional 3. Promotional
1.Infrastructural- Policy level measures to facilitate weaver excellence center to market economy
2.Instructional- New age training to weavers so that they improve their quality and variety. It may be design training in nearby center.New accessory and instrument which can increase their productivity.
3. Promotional- Promotional facilities through choice platform and interaction e.g NID, Fashion shows

Not only silk. All Indian goods need demand.
Start d Swadesh campaign or give support to that organisation. It will spread like virus (movement).

Indian silk products are just a great products that it can develop a great potential market globally.what we need is constant efforts and upgradations. I am myself a ecommerce specialist and can proudly say that I have been ablestablished to create demands for many products globally which could never have been thought of. If silk producers are skilled to understand the changing patterns of market, adopt up to date fashion like screen printing, innovative works like creative design, computer art

In my opinion - mother of all problems is that cities are encroaching villages... agriculture land has been hijacked by real-estate MAFIA, farmers are not interested in farming hence selling land on cheap price because not getting enough money and support from govt. of their hard work; everybody wants to become BABU... now the production is getting lower & lower in all forms either grains or vegetables or fruits or herbs or silk or cotton etc. etc. etc.... GOI must improve facilities to FARMERS.

Silk product demand ? Raw silk is mostly imported from China, a product that is imported - should never be encouraged to have a increase in demand. It would be better, if Indian Silk capacity is raised, Chinese Silk producing skills be studied, adopted in India, this will automatically increase our competitive advantage.....

Sirji,
Marketing of Silk products, notably silk sarees through e-commerce / online shopping should be encouraged, but this would succeed only if, we try to establish & create a BRAND for the same. So, firstly we should try to take steps for BRAND BUILDING, and once brand name is established, the rest of the path through e-commerce becomes easier. Success of many popular brands on e-commerce portals amply exemplify this. So, to begin with, let's do all that is reqd for BRAND BUILDING OF SILK!

Silk is considered as rich mans product, this tag keeps people away... getting a blend materials and further research on how combined products can last more and still keep the material to stay as it is will help. Helping more Varity of dresses will help improve sales..like getting into mens formal shirt etc will help improve demand and can be cutting edge for Indian products abroad
