It has been observed that lack of sanitation facilities has been a major issue in cities and villages. Invariably the poor are worst sufferers due to the lack of such facilities. The solution lies in creating toilets and at the same time devoting energy to maintain them.

Construction of public toilet in any locality is not a big issue. Maintenance of the Toilet is important. NGOs of the locality need to be engaged in maintaining toilets. Maintenance of minimum 1 toilet in the locality may be made as pre-requisite for the grant of any new project(above certain financial limit) to a NGO. NGOs may be put under competition for maintaining public toilets for getting govt. grants.

The PM has announced new initiatives for creating toilets in schools. MP LAD funds will be used this year to get new toilets built in schools. Let the people participate too, service personnel of govt or pvt sector donate a days salary for this good cause tothe PM fund. School going children can contribute one day of their lunch allowance too. Nation building is everybody's responsibility so let us all feel part of it.

Let the Pharmaceutical and Energy Companies invest in the research of Human waste thereby suggest if it can be used for medicine or for producing any form of energy. This information should then be used in creating an institution which either produces or manages the production. This institution should also look into building, managing the toilets and collecting the human waste for the fruitful purpose which generates revenues. The money earned can be used in maintaining the toilets.

Tourism represents national character & impression of our nation. All visitors take first impression of our nation from the basic amenities we give. We should give best of sanitation and toilets here in INDIA ... e.g in Manali, (Himachal Pradesh) there is one SPOT Rohtang Pass ....where millions of tourists reach every Year....and not even a proper Toilet provision for Tourists, specially females find it hard to go for it. No provision !!! Mobile Toliet VANS Should be Deployed on Destinations!

Paid Community toilets, with nominal fee,can be made in the initial stages. But they will not make the people responsible because i can say from experience that such toilets are the filthiest. Paid toilets may be a temporary solution but the problem will be resolved only if each house has a cheap and clean toilet. Each one clean one should be the motto for the household, where members can take turns to clean their own toilets. This will also teach the younger generation the dignity of labour.
